Youth Groups
Chaverim is for kids in grades K-2. They meet several times a year for fun activities and even some social action projects. For example, last year they put together baggies of candy, chapstick and other necessities to send to soldiers serving in Iraq.
OYE, Original Youth Emanu-El, is for grades 3-5. It is Temple Emanu El's newest youth group and a perfect introduction into our Temple Youth programs combining social action, social fun and Judaic content. OYE is scheduled for 6 off Temple events as well as a couple of fun free pizza lunch gatherings after Torah School! Come and join us.
EASY, Emanu-El Active Super Youth, is for middle school kids (grades 6-8). It is super and very active! Monthly activities incorporate fun, social action and Judaic content. For example, they may have a Saturday evening activity which includes a Havdalah service. They also serve the Temple by working at the Purim Carnival, collecting food for the food pantry and acting as grocery collectors at the Temple's High Holiday food collection.

SanETY, San Diego Emanu-El Temple Youth, is the high school group (grades 9-12)
They also have several activities each month and like EASY they participate with the Temple in social action projects. They always have a great time socializing with each other and will incorporate Judaic content into some of their programs.
In addition, this group actively participates with NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth). NFTY is a national organization and we are part of the Southern California division.
As part of NFTY the kids attend wonderful weekend retreats that feel very much like Jewish
camp. They meet kids from all over the state and even the country. It is one of the most powerful experiences in creating a positive Jewish identity and the kids love every event.

| Nothing But Nets is a grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Bed nets stop mosquitos from biting during the night and the insecticide in the nets kills the insects when they land on it. A $10 donation can save lives. Our Youth Group has created a team page to make it easy to sign on and donate. To learn more about the program visit http://www.nothingbutnets.net/ The Temple's Youth Group Committee is comprised of Temple adults who want to work in support of the youth groups. We are always looking for new folks to join us. |
